  Surge by Yuji Moriguchi

“Tentacle erotica” has been a theme present in Japanese pornography and
erotica at least since the early 1800s. The trend is still common in Japanese
manga where an octopus forces itself sexually on an unwilling female.

Tokyo-based artist Yuji Moriguchi brings together both the ancient art of “Shunga”
(Japanese erotic art) and modern Manga to create his explicit paintings that
feature interactions of octopus and female in fantasy-based scenarios.

Yuji Moriguchi's vibrant paintings of young women blend contemporary
manga with traditional Japanese ukiyo-e, particularly the erotic imagery
of shunga, depicting power, vulnerability, and pleasure. Teeming with
supernatural elements, his works have been exhibited throughout Japan,
and now at Art Central. He has over 45,600 followers on Instagram.

Moriguchi graduated from Kyoto Seika University, renowned for its manga
 department, in 1990.

Temple 2 at Art Central 2025

Temple 2 by Dai Ying is an installation that honours the cycles of life and
the essence of womanhood. Designed to represent a woman’s womb, the
structure made from red xuan paper features images that evoke round
shapes and circular movements. Through these visual elements, the
artist reflects on the origins of life and the profound significance of
existence, asserting the sacred role of women’s wombs—not only in
birthing children but also in nurturing all forms of life.

Visitors are welcomed to enter this intimate and sacred space, symbolically
retracing their steps back to the beginning of life, evoking the
 experience of childbirth.

  Ma Wan 1868

The second phase of Ma Wan Park has been named Ma Wan 1868 and has
become a new scenic area combining conservation, cultural and creative,
 tourism and retail.

Ma Wan 1868, spanning nearly 500,000 square feet along the coast, offers
breathtaking views of the Kap Shui Mun and Kap Shui Mun Bridge. The park's
operator also invited local and international designers to paint colorful
murals on the exteriors of old village houses.

In 1868, the Chinese Imperial Maritime Customs established a Customs Station
on Ma Wan, for customs inspection of junk traffic out of Hong Kong, and the
collection of revenues due from it, and Ma Wan Customs Station was used by
Kowloon Customs in 1887. There survive two inscribed stones, each dated 1897.
The first stone inscription reads “The Kowloon Customs”. The second inscribed
“The Kowloon Customs have borrowed seven English feet of Land”.

International Women Explore Deserted Hakka Mansion

Avid woman urban explorers from all over the world venture into a deserted Hakka
mansion to celebrate International Women's Day.

The elegant traditional Hakka mansion, hidden behind bushes, has been long deserted,
with bushes growing in front. The mansion, with a history of over 80 years, is
typical of the Hakka 'two-halls two-horizontal' residential building in Mei County,
Guangdong. It is the only single residential building in Hong Kong listed as a
 Grade I historical building.

The exquisite lion carvings on both sides of the gate beam have been removed.
The half-moon-shaped fengshui pond in front of the house has been overrun by
reeds and bushes, and the eaves are in disrepair and dilapidated.

The mansion has 16 rooms, 2 halls and 2 inner courtyards. The hall is the central
axis of the house, with bedrooms and kitchens on either side. The courtyards have
a pond each, and the wooden doors of the rooms are exquisitely carved. Both design
and colour are tasteful. Most of the furnitures are gone.
