What used to be a normal feature of everyday life for the district's residents has over the past years grown into one of the city's most iconic tourist attractions. In September 2022, authorities revoked the business licenses of all the shops on Train Street and set up barricades to stop tourists from entering over safety concerns. There are now still over 30 coffee shops along the street, all of them violating railway safety regulations. They are blocking tourist from entering unless they buy coffee from their shops. However one can still find another street to watch the train closely, without having to paid "The Train Street Mafia". Hanoi . Over 600 luxury French-style villas were built between 2007 and 2013 around an artificial lake. The project was promoted where residents could enjoy high-life luxuries like tennis courts, shopping malls, and enormous houses. By end-2013, more than 400 had been sold, but as of now only a few buyers have actually moved in while the remaining units sit abandoned. Of these 600 homes, only a few are occupied and more than half are unfinished. Block after block of empty villas stretch out before you. Inside, the bare brick walls are reminiscent of the industrial look. However, the owners have only made partial payments. Work in the area appeared to have stopped and the values of the buildings plummeted. A few of the mansions have gates, which appears to be the sign of habitation. The rooms were made comfortable and decorated with tapestries and paintings. The ground floor and the guard room floor were covered with large glazed tiles. A French garden was on either side of the chateau, to the north and south. The chateau has been classified as a Monument Historique since 7 October 1963, and its parkland is included in the List of Remarkable Gardens of France. The building was already in a state of neglect since the 1950s. This building, which for centuries has been visited by kings and queens, and was owned by some important people, needs to be saved from irreparable decay. It is currently in a sad state of disrepair. The roof has collapsed but some of the stained glass windows remain. Built in 1931-33, the sanatorium specialised in the treatment of tuberculosis. It is one of the largest sanatoriums to have been built in France in the 20th century. At the time, the main treatment for tuberculosis was fresh air and rest, as antibiotics did not exist. The buildings were designed to maximise open-air treatment areas, by utilising a tiered design and rooftop terrace. Each level has a terrace of continual treatment space, divided up with frosted glass panels. There were 3 identical buildings, each set 400 m apart to eliminate the risk of an epidemic spread. Inaugurated in 1973, it has an Olympic-standard 50m swimming pool outdoors and a 25m covered pool. It was closed in 2009 and the pools remain desperately empty today, and the diving boards rusty, even though that the city is sorely lacking in swimming pools. The top floor is made up of a glass-roofed circle and several luxurious rooms, one with chandeliers. Inside, the various rooms are distributed around a central core. The decoration retains its character in Louis XV and Louis XVI styles. The most original room is a winter garden, an addition from 1889-1890, lit by a glass dome and a large glass roof. A well-known architect designed this building. The place deteriorated over time unfortunately, but it is still incredible. The chateau, dates back to the 12th century, was built with wood and had no trace remaining. The current version is from the 14th Century. It was occupied by military forces during the Hundred Years’ War (1337–1453) and the French Wars of Religion (1562–1598). There are various rooms with large fireplaces and an impressive spiral staircase that leads to the top of the tower. It was deserted in the 18th century. The buildings are now dilapidated and part of them have been destroyed. The slide still stands but the pool areas and sheds have lost their colours and some of their walls. Faced with numerous management problems, the park announced its permanent closure in 2014. Since then, it has been reclaimed by nature. It has a wide, well-decorated main courtyard, closed with Italian-style porticos; crenellated towers and moats that surround the entire castle; all planted picturesque clumps of old oaks and old chestnut trees. It has long been the property of large wine-growing families. It was occupied by the Germans during World War II, before becoming a retirement home at the end of the 20th century. In early 2000, the building caught fire. Since then, it has been deserted. In 2013, the owner of the premises, gave up barricading the estate. Built around 1897, the manor was constructed with a wild mix of natural stone, brick, concrete, stone and glass mosaic, plastic, as well as countless details and curiosities. The Art Deco spiral-shaped staircase of shafts, which is covered from the cellar to the roof terrace and with white mosaic tiles, appears like a avant garde art installation transported from the end of the 20th century. But the company involved a banker who after a fraud scandal in which she was found guilty, was arrested and imprisoned. That explains why no bag of cement ultimately left the factory. Built from 1974 to 1977, the dam was used for flood control and irrigation purposes, and stands 35.2 m (115 ft) high and 357 m (1,171 ft) long, holding a reservoir with an original capacity of 3,380,000 cubic m. The dam was heavily damaged in the 9.21 earthquake of 1999, which caused the collapse of its northern end. Subsequently, an embankment cofferdam was built to prevent water from flowing through the breach, while the collapsed section has been retained as a memorial. Access is via a flight of stairs through a gate portal in front. Only a low table and a few chairs remain in the main house. The roof of one of the houses has collapsed partially. Started operating around 1944, the steel mills had employed around 5,000 people. The buildings are in a sad state of disrepair. Only the columns and beams are standing and the roofs have totally collapsed. Only the 2-storey control room remains intact. Silver reeds and bushes grow wildly, adding a surreal yet poetic touch to the scene against the sunset. There are 5 blocks of apartments of 6-7 storeys. The large block has units of 180 sq m, and the remaining 4 blocks are suites of 18 sq m, with a total of about 221 households. With expansive sea view, it was promoted as a high-end leisure resort community, attracting many celebrities to buy. As the developer cut corners during construction, coupled with long-term erosion by the sea, the building deteriorated. The walkway at the rear of the building collapsed completely. Almost all units above first floor are deserted. In 1997, a male corpse was found in a fire and many tenants left. Currently, less than 10 units are occupied, mostly on the ground floor. Completed in 1960, the youth activity centre is the largest and the first centre established by a political party. It served grade 4-7 youth with facilities for accommodation, catering, conference, barbecue, camping, exploration, experience area, a beach and a large 14,000 square metre onsen fitness centre. It is a courtyard house with building materials shipped from China, including red bricks, cypress wood, etc. The building has jade-coloured tiled hollow windows, goose- headed horseback eaves, and a patio of over 33 square metre paved with stones. The name of the house is on top of the front door. It has been deserted for decades and is in a sad state of disrepair. Weeds and bushes grow wildly around the house. The temple was built in 1976, dedicated to The 3 Heavenly Lord of Tao and Virtue of Taoism. It was badly damaged during the earthquake of 9.21 in 1999 and has been deserted since.
