          |  Old and New at Tai Kwun
 
 The old Prison Yard D Hall juxtaposed against the new and modern
 JC Cube of the 170-year-old Central Police Station compound,
 revitalised as Tai Kwun Centre for Heritage and Arts.
 
 It opens on Tuesday, 29 May after an eight-year, HK$3.8 billion
 (US$484 million) project funded by the Hong Kong Jockey Club.

  Tai Kwun Lightshow
 
 The 170-year history of the Central Police Station compound,
 opens on Tuesday as Tai Kwun Centre for Heritage and Arts,
 comes to life on the facade of the Barrack Block. The
 lightshow, designed by artist Lam Tung Pang, runs
 through 24 June with 2 shows at 7:30 pm and 9:30 pm.
 
 The '100 Faces of Tai Kwun' is the first public exhibition
 after an eight-year, HK$3.8 billion (US$484 million)
 revitalisation project funded by the Hong Kong Jockey Club.

  Reservoirs Dried Up
 
 With record heatwave hitting Hong Kong for 12 straight days,
 reservoirs are drying up.  Lau Shui Heung Reservoir in Fanling
 is almost barren and hikers can walk across the exposed,
 cracked surface of its dried-up bed.
 
 Others, such as Tai Tam Upper Reservoir, are seen with very
 low level of water revealing layers of watermarks on its
 outcrop exposed to the air.

 The magnificant 65m Long Room with its barrel-vaulted ceiling, is
 lined with shelves containing 200,000 of the library's oldest
 manuscripts at Trinity College, Ireland's most prestigious
 university which was established by Elizabeth I in 1592.
 
 Downstairs is home to the stunningly beautiful Book of Kells,

  Belfast Titanic
 
 Titanic Belfast is a multimedia experience opened in 2012, a monument
 to Belfast's maritime heritage on the site of the former Harland &
 Wolff shipyard where the RMS Titanic was built.
 
 Titanica, a bronze sculpture by Rowan Gillespie depicting a diving
 female figure, fronts the building. It charts the history of Belfast
 and the ill-fated world-famous ship, which hit an iceberg and sank
 during her maiden voyage in 1912.

  Castlerigg Stone Circle
 
 Jack from Auckland sits on the dramatic Castlerigg Stone Circle,
 perched on a lonely hilltop up from Keswick. Constructed between
 3000-4000 years ago, the circle consists of 38-42 stones. The
 tallest is around 8 ft high and the largest weighs over 16 tons.
 
 How the ancient Britons move these massive rocks to this isolated
 location remains a mystery, nor do we know its exact purpose.

 Vickey from Bengaluru, India works at a telecom shop at
 Chungking Mansions.  Completed in 1961, Chungking Mansions
 features guesthouses, curry restaurants, African bistros,
 clothing shops, sari stores, and foreign exchange offices.
 
 It often acts as a large gathering place for some of the ethnic
 minorities in Hong Kong, particularly South Asians (Indians,
 Nepalese, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis and Sri Lankans),Middle Eastern

  Noman at Chungking Mansions
 
 Pakistani Noman, from Multan in the province of Punjab, works behind
 the counter at a pastry shop at Chungking Mansions. Completed in 1961,
 Chungking Mansions in Tsimshatsui, Kowloon, is well known as the
 cheapest accommodation in Hong Kong.
 
 Though the building was supposed to be residential, it is made up of
 many independent low-budget hotels, shops and other services. The
 unusual atmosphere of the building is sometimes compared to that
 of the former Kowloon Walled City. Peter Shadbolt of CNN stated that
 the complex was the "unofficial African quarter of Hong Kong".
