  Exploring Deserted Temple from 1920s

An avid urban explorer ventures into a deserted temple.

The temple was built in 1925, dedicated to Amitabh, the Buddha of Infinite Light and
Compassion. In 1952, the property rights were transferred and Guanyin, the Goddess of Mercy,
was instated as the primary deity.

The large, 4-tiered temple has been deserted for many years. Many beams and columns on the
roof have corroded, the stairs and walls are cracked in many places, and the wall tiles have
fallen off. Statutes of the deities are missing or broken. In the main hall, the 2 once illuminated
towers of Peace Lanterns, lit to bring good fortune to temple patrons who light one in their
names, have collapsed. Fire broke out in 2017 and 2019, with no injuries luckily.
The temple is in a sad state of disrepair.

  Exploring Deserted Shipyard

An avid urban explorer ventures into a deserted shipyard.

The shipyard was built in 1966 specializing in the construction of luxury yachts for the US
market with Taiwan’s cheap and skilled labour and made a fortune. It specialized in the
construction of smaller pleasure-craft, and was able to quickly adapt to ships with fiberglass
in the 1970s and 1980s. When economic recession hit the US in the late 1970s and global
sales declined, the company was forced to restructure and eventually cease operations in 1987.

An avid urban explorer ventures into a deserted theatre.

This theater was built in the 1930s during the Japanese Colonial Era with seats on 2 floors
to hold up to 500 audiences. It was able to screen movies and stage dramas. Nevertheless,
due to a decline in population, it was eventually closed in the 1980s. Though the place was
officially listed as a historic heritage in 2001, projects of restoration and reuse could not go
smoothly because of its divided ownership.

The theater is built in Baroque design. The front gable with symmetric arcs is decorated with
stucco molding and added with embellishment patterns and tile mosaic. The interior is mostly of
Chinese cypress structure. While wooden folding chairs are dilapidated on the first floor, they
have been cleared on the ground floor. There is a big hole is on the movie screen.

as an office but it later became a doctor's residence. The architecture is special with an
 asymmetrical structure.

The changes in the shape of the facades are very interesting. The fenestration and the design of
