Laura's Another Side

British Photographer Laura Simonsen, originally from Lancashire, opens her solo
exhibition 'Another Side of Me' presenting drag artist Simon Lawfull's
transformation into the character and style of a Queen called Cleo Moans.

'I am fascinated by their transformation, their energy, their exaggeration
of expression and dramatic change in identity,' says Laura. The show is
at Voxfire Gallery from 30 Octoer to 1 Novemer, 11 am - 7 pm.

of rule by military junta, curator Melissa Carlson in partnership with Pyay Way of
Nawaday Tharlar Gallery in Yangon showcases over 50 pieces of art by top Burmese
artists reflecting the hope, aspiration and doubts of the emerging democracy.

first groundbreaking show of censored Burmese art - 'Banned in Burma:

20% Below The Poverty Line in Hong Kong

The map of Hong Kong Island, made from oatmeal purchased with HK$25.5 (US$3.3),
reflects the reality that many of the almost 20% of the population (and one
in three elderlies) living under #ThePovertyLine as reported in the local
newspapers can only afford oatmeal three times a day or equivalent.

The latest census data in 2011 shows that the city's Gini-coefficient, a measure
of income disparity, of 0.537 in 2011 (up 25% from 1971) is amongst the worst
worldwide and is in the company of Haiti and Honduras.

Colosseum

The Colosseum or Coliseum, also known as the Flavian Amphitheatre, is an oval
amphitheatre in Rome, Italy. Built of concrete and stone, it is the largest
amphitheatre ever built and is considered one of the greatest works of
architecture and engineering.

Construction began under the emperor Vespasian in 72 AD. The Colosseum could
hold an estimated 50,000 to 80,000 spectators. It is part of the Historical
Centre of Rome, designated as a UN World Heritage since 1980.

Thousands Defend HKU
