 Rally to Support Occupy Leaders Religious groups rally on Saturday to show support for nine Occupy leaders who are awaiting a court verdict over their role in the mass protests in 2014. Occupy Central co-founders Benny Tai, Chan Kin-man and the Reverend Chu Yiu-ming lead the march from Causeway Bay to the government headquarters in Admiralty. Born out of a frustration at the lack of diverse representation of body shapes in mainstream media, Teng, as an Asian woman growing up in a relatively homogenous and hyper weight conscious city like Hong Kong, feels normalcy always came in sizes too small. Through exploring the photographic process as a form of therapy and empowerment, Teng began studying the psychological impacts of body image starting with her own experience. Hong Kong is trailing behind its counterpart cities in renewable energy, energy efficiency, transitioning to electric mobility, and curbing greenhouse gas emissions. Hannah May, a Polytechnic University student from Edinburgh Scotland, joins the rally with a sign reading 'There is No Planet B'. Young people around the world, inspired by Swedish student activist Greta Thunberg, rally to press politicians to act on climate change. She is both nostalgic and sad about the fate of the playground of her youth. A closely-knit community of residents and businesses were forced out by the Urban Renewal Authority (URA) with inadequate compensation. Many fear that Kwun Tong will lose its character and become unaffordable to the grassroot citizens. This is an end of an era for Kwun Tong and Hong Kong. Kwun Tong . Hong Kong | 2019 13 Mar 2019  Sad Goodbye to Yue Man Square Yue Man Sqaure, the once bustling town centre of Kwun Tong, is now almost deserted. Most residents and businesses have moved out due to a huge Kwun Tong redevelopment project by the Urban Renewal Authority (URA), leaving the Square with empty, old buildings that will soon be demolished. A closely-knit community of local small businesses and shops were forced to shut down and sadly scattered asunder. The area will be replaced by new buildings with high rents. The compensation offered by the URA doesn't allow most to relocate within Kwun Tong after the redevelopment. Many fear that Kwun Tong will lose its character and become unaffordable by grassroot citizens. This is a heart-breaking end of an era for Kwun Tong and Hong Kong. Kwun Tong . Over 10,000 books from the private collection of Dr Mirana May Szeto - former assistant professor of comparative literature at The University of Hong Kong, renowned cultural critic and social activist, who decided to give up her prized possessions to follow the path of Buddha - are housed in this charming library with European style wooden furniture. The collection of books and magazines, including contemporary Chinese literature, Taiwan literature, Malaysian-Chinese literature, film studies, gender studies, post-modernism, economics, capitalism, language studies and everthing related to Hong Kong. They are now accessable on-site only for a refundable membership deposit of HK$300. The library is dedicated to book lovers and managed by Harry Yeung, librarian and a HKU MPhil student of Szeto, now a PhD candidate.
