Panda-monium: A Decade of Panda Madness
A Photo Exhibition by P H Yang

Step into the whimsical world where 1,600 to 2,500 panda sculptures invaded Hong Kong’s most iconic spots.

Award-winning photographer P H Yang captures the sheer magic and chaos of the 2014 “1600 Pandas World Tour”
— a WWF-backed project by French artist Paulo Grangeon symbolizing the fragile panda population — and the
massive 2025 “Panda Go! Fest HK,” the city’s largest-ever panda extravaganza with 2,500 sculptures
celebrating hope and heritage.

Through his exclusive, rarely seen images, relive extraordinary moments:

. A panda army “landing” from a Cathay Pacific jet on the restricted tarmac of Hong Kong International Airport

. Twilight madness at Tsimshatsui’s Avenue of Stars at 5 am

. 4 am black-and-white wonderland in Mongkok - Guinness’ busiest district in the world

. Braving torrential amber rainstorm at Statue Square to capture pandas "dancing"

. Festive takeovers on Star Ferry, trams, Ngong Ping 360, Ocean Park, and Christmas at Dr Sun Yat-sen Memorial Park

Yang’s lens fuses adorable mayhem with a powerful conservation message. With fewer than 2,000 giant pandas remaining
in the wild, these playful invasions remind us that creativity and cuteness can inspire real change.

His evocative photography has appeared in Lonely Planet guides, CNN, San Francisco Chronicle, Hong Kong Economic Journal,
Ming Pao, and more. He won the 2015 Hong Kong Human Rights Arts Prize.
